Szyszki are an amazingly easy, 3 ingredient, no bake, yummy desert. Szyszki means pine cones in Polish and that’s what the desert looks like. You can make it in 10 minutes whenever you feel like having something sweet. Szyszki are basically melted caramel fudge with butter and puffed rice. They will make your taste buds dance! A little bit like rice crispy treats but in my huble opinion even better.
The only thing that can be a little difficult is finding the ingredients. I know you can find puffed rice in some stores and as for the caramel fudge candy I used Polish candy called “krówka” meaning little cow. I’m sure any caramel fudge candy will do, it may taste a little different. You can find both on amazon.
I melted unwrapped caramel fudge candy and half a stick of butter. It’s best to do that in a cooking pot on low heat.
I used a silicon spatula to stir melting candy and butter. Make sure it doesn’t get burned. It took about 5 minutes to melt all the candy completely. Once it liquefied, I turned the heat off.
I poured melted candy and butter mixture on the puffed rice. It’s important to do it fast since it will start hardening soon. I mixed melted caramel with puffed rice.
Next step is forming pine cones or szyszki. It may be warm but, again, it’s important to do it fast. It’s easier to form them if you dip your hands in cold water first. They should be a little smaller than a fist like in the picture.
Now let them harden. It takes anywhere from an hour to two. Enjoy!
