If like me sometimes you’re blanking for a simple and tasty side dish I have a great idea for you. It’s three ingredients only, healthy and super fast to make. I had both peas and fava beans in my freezer and I love them on their own but with fried onions, that make anything better to be honest, and butter that dish is irresistible.
I started with dicing and frying half of the onion. I used butter which in my opinion tastes some much better in that recipe. I know, I know olive oil is better for you but butter adds extra creaminess to the recipe. I also added a pinch of salt and a pinch of sugar.
I boiled peas according to the instructions on the bag.
And boiled fava beans according to the instructions on the bag as well. They had different cooking time so I had to use two separate cooking pots.
Finally, I simply mixed everything together, added some extra butter and a pinch of salt and pepper. Enjoy!

- 1 bag of frozen peas (1 lb)
- 1 bag of frozen fava beans (1 lb)
- 3 tablespoons of butter or olive oil
- salt and pepper
- Dice and fry onion.
- Boil peas and fava beans according to instructions on bags.
- Mix everything and add a pinch of salt and pepper.
